According to Scout Hoops, Fenerbahce’s player, Omer Yurtseven, is willing to play collegiate basketball, rather than sign a professional contract with the Turkish club.

The 17-year-old center, who made some impressive performances at the Basketball Without Borders (a tournament, which includes the best players from around the world) this past weekend, has already been in touch with a number of colleges (such as Arizona State, Duke, Miami and Utah).

The 6-foot-11 player has been projected by DraftExpress as one of the top picks in the 2017 Draft, while has already informed Zeljco Obradovic’s team about his future intentions.

“They got kind of shocked” said the Turkish youngster on how Fenerbahce reacted to his decision, as he explained the reason he prefers to play in the NCAA: “Fenerbahce is a really good club and play at a high level. I haven’t been playing that much, so I need to go some place that I can play more and improve. That’s why I want to go to college”.

Yurtseven also played nine times for the Turkish national team at the FIBA U18 European Championship this past summer, averaging 9.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
