The two powerhouses are safe and sound after today’s matches, although their performances didn’t have the consistency that their coaches required.
For 20 minutes, Lavrio made the life of Olympiacos (35 p.) more than difficult, being in front of the score and seriously frustrating the Reds. By extremely tightening their defense and thanks to an outburst of Kostas Papanikolaou, the guests ended the third quarter with a 14-26 partial score, never looking back.
Coach Djordjevic was happy with Panathinaikos‘ (35 p.) win over Apollon (26 p.) but not really pleased with how some of his players behaved in their defensive duties. Still, the victory came, a lot easier than what the final score shows.
One major surprise for this Week was presented by Rethymno (25 p.). The Cretan team was a spectacle to behold in Thessaloniki against PAOK (26 p.), taking a win which will definitely come in handy in the future and might play a big role for the team to avoid relegation.
AEK (32 p.) and Aris (31 p.) still hold the third and fourth position in the standings, both winning on the road.
