Messina a candidate for the Nets

The connection between CSKA Moscow and the Brooklyn Nets is obvious, the Russian owner Mikhail Prokhorov denied Eurohoops’ report about Andrey Vatutin being a candidate for the GM job, however a former CSKA Moscow member is under consideration for the coaching job.

According to Yahoo!Sports the short list of the head coaches includes three names, which are Jeff Van Gundy, Tom Thibodeau and also current Spurs assistant Ettore Messina. With Messina as the head coach CSKA won the Euroleague twice. As for the general manager position among the candidates for the job, according to the same report, are Lithuanian Denver assistant GM Arturas Karnisovas and New Zealander San Antonio Spurs assistant GM Sean Marks.

Ettore Messina is also the newly appointed head coach of the Italian national team.
