Thanks to an amazing last quarter in which they scored 33 points, Gran Canaria got the 81-71 win over Bilbao and the ticket to the final of “Copa Del Rey”.
Bilbao had things under control for the first half which ended with a 46-34 advantage for them, got even a 19 points lead (55-36, 26′), but scored just 25 points in the next 20 minutes and only nine in the third period. Veteran guard Albert Oliver with 18 points led the charge for the winners and Sasu Salin added 12 points. Bilbao got 20 points by Clevin Hannah, 17 by Alex Mumbru and 13 by Dairis Bertands.
However the winners finished the game with a 35-25 advantage in rebounds and an amazing 63% in 2-point shots. Those were the key factors that decided the outcome, together with Gran Canaria’s big heart.
