Some interesting results brought a good deal of changes in the standings of the Turkish Basketball Super League. For a start, Fenerbahce (15-4) and Anadolu Efes (15-4)  increased their distance from third Galatasaray (13 – 6). Also, Darussafaka Dogus (12-7) took advantage of the, relatively surprising, defeats of Pinar Karsiyaka (12-7) and Banvit (12-8), who were both probably distracted by their upcoming Eurocup ventures on the road, in order to climb at the fourth spot.

Of course, the Istanbul derby stole the show. The combined forces of Ekpe Udoh and Jan Vesely were too powerful to be stopped by Galatasaray, and through their help, Fener didn’t face any strong opposition in the second half. After grabbing a double digit lead in the third quarter, the hosts held tight to it, remaining well ahead of the score until the end of the match.

Anadolu Efes had a comfortable evening against Buyukcekmece (10-9), finding a chance to release some anger after its mid week Euroleague defeat. Coach Ivkovic’s players made their intentions clear right from the start being particularly effective, especially inside the paint.

Although Banvit was ahead of the score 31 – 51 after the first half, a more than impressive comeback assault with a 26 – 9 score in the third quarter, provided Gaziantep with the strength to fight, and grab a sensational victory.

A somewhat similar thing, albeit not of that magnitude, happened in Trabzon, where local Trabzonspor (8-11) entered the third quarter with the score 43 – 52 in favor of Karsiyaka, yet scored 24 points in the last quarter against its opponents’ eleven, winning the match.
