Elliot Williams proved to be the secret ingridient that Panathinaikos needed in order to unlock its potential. With him and Marquez Haynes the backcourt of the Greeks is loaded and that was evident in the 76-58 road win over Unicaja Malaga.

Panathinaikos with a 6-3 record can chase the home court advantage in the playoffs, while Unicaja which remains at 2-7 must think hard for its future. The game ended with the Spanish fans booing their own team, while Williams was the top scorer of his new team with 16 points. Nick Calathes added a double double (10 p., 10 as.), Miroslav Raduljica had 12 points and James Gist 12.

The game was over from the first quarter when the guests got a 26-7 lead. Malaga couldn’t get back to the game after that as the Greek cruised to the win. Defense was the difference, as Unicaja finished the game shooting just 37% in 2-point shots against a great 62% by Panathinaikos.

Mindaugas Kuzminskas with 15 points and Edwin Jackson with 13 points were the only players of the hosts that scored more than 7 points. It was a night to forget for Unicaja and a return to glory for Panathinaikos.
