Fenerbahce lost in Athens last week, but it still unbeaten at home. And when Crvena Zvezda tried to change that, Luigi Datome and Bogdan Bogdanovic had the answers and the hosts prevailed (72-65).
The sharpshooting duo led Fenerbahce to the its 8th win in Top16 with the Italian having 27 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks on his career best Euroleague night and the Serb adding 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. On the other hand, Zvezda is fourth in the group standings behind Panathinaikos at 5-4.
The guest started the game with Quincy Miller and Maik Zirbes leading the way, as usual. By playing great defense they kept Fenerbahce to just 25 points in the first half and got a nine points advantage after the first 20 minutes of action (34-25).
However the game changed at the start of the second half. Datome and Bogdanovic combined for 14 points in a 15-2 run that put Fenerbahce in the lead (40-36). The third period ended with the hosts leading by 9 (49-40) and a partial 24-6 score. In just 10 minutes of action, the players of Obradovic scored almost as many points as they had in the first half.
After that the rest was easy. The guests couldn’t get closer than six, Datome’s scoring crescendo continued as Fenerbahce led by 12 (61-49)
