The heart of the reigning champion beats quite strong inside the body of Pinar Karsiyaka. Ufuk Sarica’s team defeated Fenerbahce 86 – 81 after completing quite the comeback in the last quarter of the game.
Bracey Wright pulverized his opponents’ defense with his 31 points (8/15 field goals) while Kenan Sipahi scored 14 and grabbed 5 rebounds. The 20-year old guard, who actually belongs in Fenerbahce and is loaned in Karsiyaka for the season, was also a key player for his team scoring some decisive baskets that played a big part in the final outcome.
While Fenerbahce was 10 points ahead in the beginning of the fourth quarter, the hosts blazed for an impressive 17-2 partial score that transformed the 56-66 to 73 – 68, five minutes before the end of the game. That huge shift in the momentum gave wings to Karsiyaka, helping them to push back any attempts that coach Obradovic’s players made to regain their lost lead.
Bobby Dixon scored 18 points and dished 6 assists against his former club, but his teammates had huge problems when it came to controlling the boards letting Pinar Karsiyaka grab no less than 16 offensive rebounds. When Jan Vesely got injured, things got even worse in that area for Fenerbahce that had to cope without one of its most important players during the majority of the second half.
