One major upset was delivered in the French Pro A semifinals tonight. Villeurbanne stunned big favorites Monaco on the road, defeating them 73 – 67 and “stealing” their home-court advantage in the series!
Asvel played excellent defense, managing to significantly reduce the usual offensive output of its opponents. Monaco, a team that often scores fluently, shot with only 38% in its field goal attempts and lacked diversity in its solutions.
Ware Wasper was Villeurbanne’s top scorer finishing the match with 21 points and 6/9 three-pointers, while his team shot with a solid 10/18 from behind the arc. Charles Kahudi also rocked the house inside the paint, with 19 points and 8 rebounds.
For Monaco, Adrian Uter with 17 points and Jamal Shuler with 15 were the ones to stand out.
