Prior to the third semifinals game between Khimki Moscow and CSKA Moscow, (which the Euroleague champions won, sweeping the series) Alexey Shved was honored as the top Russian player of the 2015/2016 VTB League.
In the 29 games he played with Khimki during the season, the international combo guard averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.2 rebounds for 16.7 in the evaluation system.
The other two candidates were Dmitry Khvostov, of Nizhny Novgorod and Andrei Vorontsevich of CSKA Moscow. The latter was also holder of the title in 2015 while Semen Antonov (2014) and Viktor Khryapa (2013) were the previous players to receive the award.
