The reigning Bundesliga champions showed the steel they are made from on the road against Bayern Munich, defeating them 90 – 76 on the road to take a 2-0 advantage in the semifinal series.
Brose Baskets scored 56 points while receiving 35 in the second half, and outscored their fellow Bavarians 30 – 14 in the last quarter, almost cruising to victory near the end.
Bradley Wanamaker held the flag of his team high with 24 points (shooting with 7/10 from the field), 5 assists plus 4 steals. Nikos Zisis also struck hard at his opponents by adding 22 points of his own.
Coach Pesic’s players were ahead in the score 43 – 34 at halftime, but it seemed that juice began leaking from their tanks after the return of the locker rooms and probably being directly injected to the machines of their guests.
The trio of Anton Gavel (16 points), Paul Zipser (14 points) and Bryce Taylor (14 points) stood out for Bayern Munich, while Maxi Kleber registered an impressive number of 7 blocks. To no avail however, as now their team has its back against the walls.
