With a 79 – 70 victory over Zenit St. Petersburg, Unics Kazan didn’t only advance to the VTB League Finals, after winning the semifinal series 3-2, but also got the golden ticket to next season’s Euroleague.
Since CSKA Moscow, its opponent in the title series, has an A license contract, Unics Kazan will play in Euroleague no matter if it will be crowned VTB League champion or not.
To achieve this victory, coach Pashutin’s players overpowered Zenit thanks to a dynamic entrance in the second half and a 28 – 14 partial score during the third quarter.
Quino Colom led his teammates with 21 points, plus 5 assists while Keith Langford and Latavious Williams added 17 points and 6 rebounds each.
For Zenit St. Petersburg, that completed the season putting up a valiant fight against a superior opponent, Ryan Toolson’s epic game of 32 points and 5 rebounds was not enough.
