During the third semifinal game between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in “Abdi Ipekci” one of the…. “fans” of the hosting team threw a form of… liquid on coach Zeljko Obradovic.
While many think that the substance in question was “ayran” (a popular cold yogurt beverage in Turkey), Fenerbahce released an announcement on the incident stating that the Serbian coach was spat in the face.
“The biggest scandal today is some arrogant Galatasaray fan spat to Obradovic’s face while he was going to locker room because of incidents that happened in the third quarter. There were no incidents in game 1 and 2 which have played in Ulker Arena. This and this kind of arrogances must get punishments.”, is the statement of the club.
Coach Obradovic also said in Hurriyet that it was indeed spit.
Coach Ergin Ataman of Galatasaray condemned what happened, writting in his Twitter profile that “the person who did this is not human”. Meanwhile, some players of Fenerbahce were particularly annoyed, to say the least, seeing their coach like this.
