Fenerbahce released an announcement regarding yesterday’s events that took place during the game against Galatasaray in “Abdi Ipekci”.
Here are some parts, from the club’s statement.
“After a certain management mentality which thinks that organized collective swearing and violence as a part of sports, while their sports writers, from the team’s fanbase, are commenting with “buts” and “however”, we have witnessed another example of Galatasaray’s terror from the arena seats. Even the top board members who are accustomed to seeing themselves as victims, ignore all the bad things that their fans caused.
This terror was caused by a herd which has attacked fans of their opponents, killed people, attacked players of opposing team, attacked unbiased sports commentator and also attacked a lady from our club TV channel and another lady from our club. It isn’t surprising that the ban of the club from Euroleague might come into question.
The attack which happened to an 8-times Euroleague winner – who also has lots of successes in national leagues, coach Zeljko Obradovic was seen in every detail and was made known to the world of sports. We have no hopes about it, but our expectation this time is this: TBF (Turkish Basketball Federation) and security personnel must get ashamed this time and do their jobs. If not, then the responsible for the spit which was thrown to our coach’s face, are the people who caused this disgrace, who ignored this and try to make general statements”.
