Okaro White can be considered the first sumnmer addition of Olympiacos. The 24 years old power forward who was the MVP of the regular season in Greece, has a deal with the Reds according to Eurohoops sources.
White was one of the standouts of Aris BC, averaging 13,5 ppg, 5 rpg and 1,9 asp. In the playoffs he was even better with 14,9 ppg and 8,1 rpg. The interest of Olympiacos was well known for quite some time, but now the deal is finalized.
White was also a targer for EA7 Milano and he is familiar to the Italians after his first pro season in Virtus Bologna. However, Olympiacos decided to act fast and “lock” the talented forward with a contract for the next two seasons.
After this turn of events, White who was ready to play in the ΝΒΑ summer league with the Orlando Magic will not chase this year a chance in the NBA. The same thing happened last summer, when Olympiacos persuaded Patrick Young to sign with them a two year deal and not play in the summer league.
Young and White will play together in the upcoming season and the former Aris player is expected to help the team both in the center and the power forward position. It has to be noted that Young played for the Florida Gators and White for Florida State and after being rivals for four years now they will be part of the same roster.
