The Israeli national team coach Erez Edelstein, a well known candidate since Guy Goodes left the team, will be the new coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv according to Walla.co.il.

Despite a list of candidates which included many non Israeli coaches, Edelstein will be the one who will try to restore Maccabi to its former glory.

Born on August 23, 1961, Edelstein is the head coach of national team of his country since 2014. In the past he coached Hapoel Jerusalem, Maccabi Ramat Gan and Hapoel Tel Aviv. According to Walla’s report, Edelstein had today a meeting with Maccabi’s management and he accepted their offer. After all the main reason that he didn’t want to take the job in the recent past, was the fact that he would have to turn things around in mid-season with an existing coaching staff. Only details are left to be discussed and the announcement is just a matter of time.
