There were rumors about Bogdan Bogdanovic and the Suns all season long but now, there’s a confirmation about Phoenix intentions.
Speaking to “Arizona Republic”, the Suns GM Ryan McDonough said that “the Suns are waiting for 2014 first-round pick Bogdan Bogdanovic to finish playing in the Turkish league’s championship series before talking to him about joining the Suns next season”.
While the team is also monitoring other European players like French power forward Petr Cornelie and Croatian center Ante Zizic, the sharp shooter of Fenerbahce is a special case. While the Turkish club has signed since 2014 a four year contract with the Serbian swingman, which includes opt-out clauses for the NBA, Fenerbahce expects him to stay at least one more season in Turkey. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 27th overall pick, in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Of course, the talks, as McDonough confirmed, will take place after the end of the Turkish league finals, however the intention of the Suns is quite clear and the team needs every possible injection of talent in order to build a competitive roster.
On the other hand, Bogdanovic is one of the key players of Fenerbahce and his presence is crucial for the plans of the team, which reached the Euroleague final this season and wants to get to the top next year.
