During a press conference in which he made a retrospect of the 2015/2016 season, Josean Querejeta, the president of Baskonia, more or less officially announced that Velimir Perasovic is leaving the team.
“Perasovic has unilaterally terminated his contract. Ι have only words of thanks to him. I respect his change of heart”, said the owner of the Basques.
Anadolu Efes will be the next destination of the Croatian coach with a two-year deal. Even though Querejeta mentioned an “unilateral termination” of Perasovic’s contract with the club, Laboral Kutxa will receive 350.000 euros for a buy out from Efes, as Eurohoops previously reported.
This sum of money will “break” Perasovic’s contract with Baskonia, which had a duration until 2018. The team eyes every European coach, as Querejeta said.
Baskonia’s president also mentioned that Michael Roll will not continue being part of the team in the following season and that they haven’t discussed anything with for Fabien Causeur. As for Davis Bertans, he has an NBA option which the player might pursue.
