Milos Teodosic, discussed the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the possibility of playing in the NBA or… Crvena Zvezda, while revealing that when his contract with CSKA Moscow expires, the Russian club will have the first word among all other teams that will want to sign him.
“We’ll see about the NBA. It’s not depended only from me”, he told on Blic Sports. “I said long ago that I will not go to the NBA at any cost. And I won’t. I have a contract for one more year with CSKA and I am their player. They will have priority when the time comes for a new contract and then we will see”.
Almost a month ago, Milos accomplished a long time ambition: Winning the Euroleague. How does he feel about that now? “Right now I look at what happened with a smile” “I am pleased and proud that I have fulfilled one important dream of mine. But now I am moving on, there many dreams in the list!”, he said.
As a well known fan of Crvena Zvezda, would he ever play for them? “I don’t know. This will certainly happen sometime in my career, as long as I’m healthy. When will it happen? I don’t know. But when it does, it will be for me to truly help them do something”.
While the Serbian national team will march to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament of Belgrade as a favorite, Milos Teodosic is well aware of the fact that nothing will be granted to him and his teammates.
“It will not be easy, despite the optimism that I see from the fans”, he said. “We have to give our best in every match. The most important thing is for our team to be complete and healthy”, Teodosic stated, probably also thinking of the many injuries that are troubling coach Sasa Djordjevic. “Of course the audience will create a pressure, but I believe that we have the physical and mental strength to be the best when it matters the most”.
What would a qualification to the Olympic Games mean to him? “The fulfillment of a dream. Since playing for your country is the most beautiful thing, you can imagine that when this happens in the Olympics, it’s truly a dream. They say that the atmosphere at the Games is always special and different. That’s why you want to experience it”.
Does he picture himself as a possible flag bearer if Serbia makes it to Rio? “The flag-bearer should be Novak Djokovic. No doubt about that. He is the greatest ambassador of Serbian sports and Serbia in general”.
