Former Italian national team and Fenerbahce coach Simone Pianigiani is replacing coach Danny Franco on the bench of Hapoel Jerusalem.
The Israeli finalists, who are expected to compete also in Eurocup, have a two year deal with the Italian coach as Israeli journalist Roey Gladstone reported first.
Pianigiani was appointed the head coach of the Italian League club Montepaschi Siena in the 2006-07 season, and has led his team to the Italian championship in all five of his seasons on the bench. He was named the Italian League’s Best Coach in 2007.
In the summer of 2012, he signed a two-years contract with Fenerbahce/Ulker. He resigned from his position as manager of Fenerbahçe Ülker in February 2013 citing personal issues. The deal was confirmed by the team on Monday 20/6.
