Wes Wilcox, the General Manager of the Atlanta Hawks recently stated that the team is watching closely Greek power forward Dimitris Agravanis, of Olympiacos, and Swedish shooting guard Marcus Eriksson who plays for Barcelona. The club’s second-round draft picks of 2015.
“We are going to explore opportunities to get to know them better”, said Wilcox, “We have great respect for both Barcelona and Olympiacos as programs. They are under contract. We respect those organizations. Right now, they control the players which we understand and appreciate. Really, we are just building the relationship”. Apparently, the Hawks are not planning to make a move for these players in the immediate future. “There is no expectation in terms of timing, for either player, as far as when they may be able to spend some time in Atlanta, whether that be in the summer or potentially down the road”.
“Dimitris just played a very important role for his Olympiacos team, that ended up wining the Greek Championship”, were Wilcox’s words for the Reds’ big guy. Agravanis led his team’s index rating scores in a decisive Game 4 against Panathinaikos on the road, after finishing the match with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block plus many key defensive plays.
“We stay close to him. We just spoke to his coaches. We just watched his games. He has done a nice job and really finished the year strong”, he added.
Regarding Marcus Eriksson, Wilcox commented on his lack of playing time in Barcelona. “We follow Marcus very closely as well. He didn’t get an opportunity quite as much with Barcelona. We’ve been in contract with his representatives as well”.
