Olympiacos waits for White, eyes Nichols

The chosen power forward by Olympiacos for the upcoming season remains Okaro White. To be exact, as Eurohoops reported, there’s a deal between the two sides, and the only thing that remains in order for the contract to be signed is the wish of the player to try and get a contract in the NBA.

Okaro White has sheduled to be present in the upcoming Summer League of Orlando and it remains to be seen if he will wait until then in order to get some exposure in the NBA, or if he will complete earlier the transaction with Olympiacos without traveling with the States.

However, the fact that until now White is still hoping for a shot in the NBA, made the Reds consider other options, even if coach Giannis Sfairopoulos will travel to the States and it’s more than possible to have a meeting with the player.

If Olympiacos decides not to wait White any more, then the alternative to the Greek league regular season MVP is the Euroleague champ with CSKA Moscow, Demetris Nichols.

The 32 years old forward has been offered to Olympiacos – and also to many Turkish clubs – but the Greeks consider him more than a valid option. He is a player who will not take minutes from young Greek forward duo Ioannis Papapetrou and Dimitris Agravanis, he is a real professional and he has everything that Olympiacos needs. He is a good athlete and rebounder and also a reliable three points shooter.

So if White’s priority remains the NBA summer league, then Nichols will be ready to get the open power forward spot in the roster of the Greek champions.
