As Eurohoops had reported in June, Davis Bertans was more than possible to sign with the Spurs this summer and the Latvian forward is already in San Antonio, ready to finalize the deal.
The Spurs are trying to complete their negotiations with Pau Gasol and the contract of Boris Diaw is expected to be sacrificed via a trade in order for the Spaniard to fit in their salary cap. There’s not much room left and that’s why Bertans is the ideal solution for them.
The 42nd pick of the 2011 NBA draft is willing to get a salary near the minimum in order to continue his career in the NBA, the buy out in his contract with Baskonia is affordable and he is one of the players who is expected to be part of the team’s roster for next season.
A great shooter for his size, as his numbers prove, Bertans is expected to be one more of the many Euroleague players who are leaving for the NBA this summer.
