After it was officially announced that he will stay in Crvena Zvezda for one more year, coach Dejan Radonjic is making his plans for the new season of his team. One which is expected to be highly demanding, since Red Star wants to keep winning titles and also appear more competitive in Euroleague.
As he said himself, bringing Nikola Milutinov,, the Serbian center that belongs to Olympiacos, on board is definitely written in his agenda. “There are problems both in the market when it comes to find center and to the number of domestic players who are free agents”, said the Montenegrin coach. “With these under consideration, is is obvious that Red Star is interested in Nikola Milutinov.”
Preserving the core of the team’s roster is also very important for the Montenegrin coach. “Some of our players are under contract, but we will also talk with those who are not”, he continued. “Our goal is to keep as many players from our successful season, as possible and bring some reinforcements as well. Surely it will not be easy to make a competitive team for Euroleague. However, we will do our best. In any case, we want to go a step further. We have an obligation to fulfill certain results and goals.”
Dejan Radonjic was also asked about his opinion on Rade Zagorac of Mega Leks, who had been rumored to be close to Red Star. “He is a young and very talented player. I hope he will do great things in his career. But he is a player of Mega Leks and the story ends there”.
