Mindaugas Kuzminskas spoke to 24sek.lt about his NBA plans and his upcoming ventures in the New York. The Lithuanian player has reached a 2-year deal with the New York Knicks.
In his own words: “Every person wants to reach the highest possible level in their profession. In basketball, it’s the NBA. I’m 26. I’m not too old, but I’m not too young either. I think that this is the right moment to take that step. I’ve never been to New York, but I’m really happy to be heading there to play for a team of this stature. Well, my emotions are really at the highest level but I’ll be able to enjoy this once I pass the medicals.”
In the Knicks, he will join 20-year-old Kristaps Porzingis: “We’ve talked a few times in Spain but we are not friends. The Lithuanian mentality is similar to Latvian. I think we’ll find common ground and I hope he’ll help me to fit in.”
The Lithuanian forward knows being part of an NBA team doesn’t always mean time on the court: “I’m ready to fight for a role in the team. I’m a realist and I don’t expect to just be handed guaranteed playing time. I’ll try to find a way to help the team. The Knicks are among the best organizations in NBA. Joining a club of this stature makes me incredibly happy.”
