Bogdan Bogdanovic, together with Nikola Jokic and Milos Teodosic, led Serbia to an easy qualification to the Olympic Games of Rio. The ace of Fenerbahce was brilliant, being Serbia’s top scorer in the tournament with an average of 17.8 points while also being ranked first in assists with 6. He surpassed even pass-specialist, Milos Teodosic.
Eurohoops talked with the Bogdanovic after Serbia’s triumph over Puerto Rico (108 – 77) to talk with him about his national team’s great achievement. Even though he was one of the protagonists of Serbia, he was, once again, quite modest, giving all the credit to his teammates and the Serbian fans. “I want to congratulate my teammates and all the fans who have been supporting us. That’s it”.
Will this kind of performances can lead them to a medal in Rio? “We hope! Before our only dream was to qualify. Now we want to be competitive in all the games in Rio. There is a certain goal in front of us. Now we now have time to prepare for the Olympic Games”.
Serbia’s level of basketball is top notch. Does Bogdanovic think that this generation proved that it is equal or perhaps better than the previous ones? “It’s tough to talk about that because the style of basketball back then was different. It’s difficult to compare. I am very happy to be part of this team”.
