After agreeing with Valencia in order to acquire Victor Claver, Barcelona is now aggressively moving to finalize the transfer of American point guard Tyrese Rice from Khimki Moscow.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club initial chosen ones for the play maker position were Rice and Darius Adams (the interest for whom was also reported by Eurohoops), who last played for Laboral Kutxa. The fact that Adams occupies a foreign player’s space in Barcelona’s roster, along with the heavy negotiations that the club would enter with Baskonia for a buy-out, shifted the balance in favor of the Khimki player.
But perhaps the most decisive factor was that Khimki’s demands for Rice were reduced on Monday afternoon.
Barcelona had previously tried to sign Rice two summers ago but their efforts didn’t come into fruition. Something completely different from will most likely happen now, as it seems that the 2014 Final Four MVP will become a Blaugrana.
