The interest of Panathinaikos for Tornike Shengelia has to be expressed officially to Baskonia. The Spanish club paid the player the salaries owned from last season and wants to keep him.
Shengelia already had a contract for next season which does not include a buy out, however the fact that he was owned some of his salaries opened the door for the Greeks to try and lure him without contacting Baskonia.
However with no money owned to him at this point, Panathinaikos has to negotiate directly with Baskonia in order to get the player.
Shengelia will be the highest paid player of Baskonia next season with a 800.000 euros contract and the club of Vitoria is not willing to let him go. Only the fact that Baskonia is well known for selling player on the right price can give some hope for the Greens, but this does not seem to be the case.
