While one month ago everything was pointing to Alessandro Gentile’s departure from Olimpia Milano it seems that it was all a series of false alarms, since the captain of the Italian team will stay in his post for the upcoming season.
The 23-year old player sparked many rumors that left his future in the team highly questionable saying “maybe this was my last game with Milano”. His statement was followed by a certain comment by Livio Prolli, president of the Italian club, who mentioned that “I think that Gentile’s circle in the team is over”.
His desire to play in the NBA was, and still is, unquestionable while Barcelona seemed reportedly ready to spend a great deal of money and enter a bidding contest with Darussafaka Dogus for one the Italian guard/forward. In any case, if the player was to leave Milano he would have to do it until July 10, according to a specific term in his contract.
Since Gentile didn’t use that clause, his status as a Milano player remained the same.
