It looks like that the expected deal between Rich Howell and Maccabi Tel Aviv will not be finalized after all. What is more, in a complete turn of events, he is going to sign with the “Yellows” arch-rivals Hapoel Tel Aviv, according to Israeli journalist Roey Gladstone.
As the American forward wrote on Twitter, Maccabi presented him with a contract which had some key differences in comparison with the one that the two sides have initially agreed upon. Obviously, Howell didn’t like the changes so he decided to turn down the 2014 Euroleague champions and join Hapoel Tel Aviv.
During the previous season, Howell played for Ironi Nahariya, also in Israel, averaging 15.6 points and 9.8 rebounds. He is notorious for his rebounding skills and the strength he commands at the low post.
I decided not to sign wit maccabi after I sat in Simone house and we agreed on one contract. But 2 days later he sen dme different contract

They tried to sign me for 3 years but wants the option to loan me out. Doesn’t make sense. #yellahapoel
