While Sasha Vezenkov has joined the Bulgarian national team for the prep period ahead of the Eurobasket 2017 qualifiers, there have been many reports surfacing about his status as a player of Barcelona and the possibility that he will be loaned to another club.
Quite naturally, the 20-year old power forward was asked about these rumors by the local press. “No one from the club has informed that I will be transferred to an other team”, said Vezenkov. “At the moment I am a player of Barcelona. It’s their decision to make.”
He continued by saying that: “So far I know they want me and that the new coach will give me a role in the team. And that is something for which I will fight for. I know that nothing will be handed to me as a gift.”
And what is Vezenkov’s opinion on Giorgos Bartzokas, the new coach of Barcelona? “I am not the right person to comment on the new coach. He was the first Greek coach to win the Euroleague. He has a pretty good expertise. I hope we have a good communication with him and work well”, concluded the Bulgarian power forward.
