Georgios Bartzokas was officially presented by Barcelona today and the coach explained first of all his decision to join Barcelona and the new season.
As he said:”Leaving Krasnodar was difficult, but when I was called by Barcelona I had to accept. I want to thank the club for this. We all know how important it is to be in a club like this. I face the challenge with a lot of enthusiasm and responsibility.“
The GM of the Catalan club, Rodrigo de la Fuente, has confirmed that Christos Pappas and Josep Maria Berrocal be Greek technical assistants on the bench. Pappas has been with Bartzokas since his days as a coach of Panionios.
And now Bartzokas has a new project which will link the past with the future of the team: “Navarro is a legend. We want him to continue having the role of a leader. Our priority is to look for a guard to accompany Rice. Guillem Vives is the one we want, but we are working on other options too. I am very happy with the model that we want to apply. It will be a long process but there is plenty of talent. The important thing here is to win titles, not to criticize the previous coach (Xavi Pascual).”
