Since 2006 Pau Gasol’s Spain dominated the basketball world with one notable exception, USA. The Spaniards with very few exceptions won almost every major tournament, or were among the medal winners, however during their rise they have never beaten USA.
When they were world champions in 2006, Greece had beaten LeBron, Wade and company and while Spain in the previous two Olympic Games finals tried its best and gave a real fight, couldn’t celebrate in the end. Spain with Gasol and Navarro in its roster has beaten USA back in 2002, however that was just the game for the 5th spot in final standings. So this is the last chance Pau Gasol may have in dethroning USA so get ready for an amazing game.
However it has to be noted that so far in 16 games since 1968, Spain has won only twice. Here are the results.
