In case you thought you saw the last of Dimitris Diamantidis with the jersey of Panathinaikos… well… you are kinda mistaken.
No, the legendary captain of the six-time Euroleague champion won’t recall his decision to retire. But he is going to step on court with his team for one last time during the “Diamonds Are Forever” tournament (16/17 of September) held in Athens with the participation of Panathinaikos, CSKA Moscow, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Barcelona.
Panathinaikos’ chief executive Panagiotis Triantopoulos revealed the news during the draw ceremony of the 2016/2017 Greek Basket League season, saying “We organize the ‘Diamonds are Forever’ tournament next week in honor of our great captain, Dimitris Diamantidis. We invite everyone to see the captain with no. 13 for one last time”.
