During the “Diamonds Are Forever” press conference, emblematic players for their respective teams were called to give their thoughts on Dimitris Diamantidis and the upcoming tournament.

Viktor Khryapa broke 3D’s “Best Defender in Euroleague” record in 2009: “We are happy to be here and represent CSKA in this tournament. A lot could be said about Diamantidis but it would be easier for me to play as his opponent rather than talk about him! I hope everything will turn out well in his life”

Guy Pnini of Maccabi was once told “Don’t make a pass, Diamantidis is there to steal the ball!”: “It’s a great honor for us to be in this tournament for Dimitris. There are a lot of things to say about him as a player and as a person but we will talk about those after the tournament is over. Now it’s time for basketball, what Dimitris knows to do best. It’s a big test for Maccabi against great teams and I hope everyone will enjoy this.”

Ante Tomic spoke about the man who back in 2011 “stole” the Final 4 ticket from his team, Barcelona: “It’s an honor for me to be here and represent my club in honor of Diamantidis, one of the best players in the history of European basketball. It will be a tough test. We are excited and I hope everything goes well.”

Antonis Fotsis has spent many years side by side to Diamantidis in Panathinaikos, the two are close friends. “I’m very happy to participate in this tournament. Dimitris is a player that has offered a lot to Panathinaikos and I’m glad I was his teammate. Our goal is to enjoy the games and say a warm “goodbye” to Diamantidis. I wish him the best of luck in his new life chapter.”
