Thanks to key performances by the backcourt duo of Vassilis Spanoulis and Errick Green, Olympiacos defeated Crvena Zvezda 86 – 74 and advanced to the “International Basketball Tournament” final, where Anadolu Efes was already waiting.
After a rough start, the Greek team was particularly superior in the first half where thanks to an impressive 18-2 run, they established a solid lead (47 – 34). Red Star tried to cut it into single digits but never became dangerous.
This match also marked the return of Patric Young to action after 10 months of absence, due to a torn ACL.
V-Span led his teammates with 15 points and 6 assists, while Green added 14 points. Vangelis Mantzaris had 11 points and Giorgos Printezis 10.
Ognjen Kuzmic and Milko Bjelica troubled Olympiacos‘ big guys, contributing 12 points each. Luka Mitrovic had an all-around output of 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Branko Lazic scored 8 points too.
