As Harun Erdenay announced that he will not nominate himself again for the position of the president of the Turkish Basketball Federation at the end of his tenure, the road opens for Hedo Turkoglu to assume the position.
Turkoglu will most likely be the sole candidate for the post, since Erdenay mentioned that he doesn’t want to nominate against his “brother and teammate”, as he specifically said.
Here is an excerpt of Erdenay’s announcement:
“I had been elected as the president of basketball federation for 17 months on May 27 2015. I am proud to say that I fulfilled almost all my promises and pursuits during my time of duty.
I decided not to nominate against my brother and teammate Hidayet Türkoğlu after I consider the new phase that is about to begin in basketball because I decided that it would be for the benefit of Turkish basketball.
I am going to continue to serve for basketball. I am going to be working with the future president Hidayet Türkoğlu with knowledge and experience and wish him success in his tenure.”
