Sarunas Jasikevicius returned once again in Athens as the coach of Zalgiris Kaunas and he spoke to the Greek national television about his feelings, but also about his new goals.
“OAKA will always feel like home for me, I spent four very nice years here”, he said, before explaining his summer flirting with Barcelona: “We were not that close with Barcelona like the press was saying. That’s the biggest thing, they said that we had a deal and everything. It was never that close. We had one serious meeting, it was pretty clear to me earlier on that we had different ideas about how the team should be run and put together. It wasn’t that deep in the conversations with them as the press said”.
For his former teammate and now fellow Euroleague legend Dimitris Diamantidis he stated: “He deserved all this and all the honors he enjoyed. Maybe even more. He is a player who is a myth for Panathinaikos and he worths the honor and the recognition received by the fans”.
