The announcement was made today and Sergio Scariolo will stay on the bench of the Spanish national team until 2020.
“Today is a happy day for me, the federation and basketball, because we can announce this extension”, said the federation president Jorge Garbajosa, while Sergio Scariolo added: “I can also speak about my excitement for continuing being a part of this family and I hope that will continue being successful”.
Scariolo will lead the Spanish national team in the upcoming Eurobasket 2017, the FIBA World Cup 2019 and also the 2020 Olympic Games. The Italian coach had win three gold Eurobasket medals with Spain (2015, 2011, 2009) and also to a silver medal in the 2012 Olympics and a bronze last summer in Rio.
