Zalgiris Kaunas took an opportunity to react after its mid-week defeats in Euroleague, passing from Keaidani victorious 81 – 68 against local Venezis and retaining its grip on the first place of the Lithuanian league.
Furious right from the start, coach Jasikevicius’ players scored 27 points in the first quarter, while receiving only 12 making their task easy right from the start. The hosts forced their opponents into a blackout during the third period (18 – 9) but Zalgiris finished the job in the end.
Their attention is now focused to the Euroleague game vs Darussafaka Dogus at home, where they want to double their wins in the competition.
Leo Westermann paced his teammates with 15 points, Paulius Jankunas registered a double-double of 13 points/11 rebounds while Edgaras Ulanovas added 13 points as well.
Justas Sinica (15 points) and Toni Postran (13 points, 6 assists) stood out from Venezis.
