Panathinaikos has been on the lookout for a guard to reinforce its roster after Mike James’ injury and Marko Popovic is now close to the Greek team.
The 34 years old Croatian can play both as a point guard and a shooting guard. Apart from his scoring abilities, he is also well experienced and he has appeared in 123 Euroleague games, averaging 12.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
According to sport24.gr sources confirmed by Eurohoops, the Greens have already started negotiating with Fuenlabrada in order to end the player’s contract that would normally end next summer.
Xavi Pascual could use Popovic even in the Greek league, without having to cut any of his American players or James Feldeine.
Popovic last played in Euroleague during the 2012-2013 season with Zalgiris Kaunas and has won the Eurocup twice (2011, 2015) with Unics Kazan and Khimki.
