The injury that James Gist suffered during the game between Real Madrid and Panathinaikos was not as serious as initially thought (early fears had to do with a bone fracture), but it’s still ugly enough to keep him sidelined for quite some time.
As the Greek club officially announced, Gist was diagnosed with an avulsion of the proximal attachment of his left leg abductor muscle. During the following days it will decided if the player will undergo surgery or follow a conservative treatment.
If the latter occurs then Gist’s rehabilitation might keep him out for about two months. However if he will be operated, then he will be forced to be absent from action for even a four-month period.
Whatever the case might be, Panathinaikos will be missing a hugely key player and a factor on both ends of the floor.
