After a modest start in the season, Anadolu Efes seems to get things under control. At least that was the sense in the 100-79 win over Crvena Zvezda as the two clubs are now tied with a 4-5 record.
Derrick Brown (20 p., 8 r., 4 as. 3 bl.) with a new career high with a 38 ranking, Cotton Bryce (19 p. 5/6 3p.) and Thomas Heurtel (17 p. 7 as.) led the charge while Tyler Honeycutt had an impressive double double (12 p., 13 r.) and Cedi Osman scored 12 crucial points on 3/3 threes.
For the losing side, Charles Jenkins had a career high with 20 points, Marko Guduric added 14 points and no other player scored in double digits.
After a tied first period at 21, the hosts got a 47-40 half time lead and a ten points advantage at the end of the third (74-64) with Brown having already 18 points, 5 rebounds and 30 in ranking. Anadolu Efes controled the boards and simply shot better, taking advantage of the extra possesions they got.
With the lead 77-64 at the start of the last period, Crvena Zvezda reacted. With a 11-3 run which was concluded by the first made three-pointer of Marko Simonovic in the game the Serbs cut the lead to five (80-75). They couldn’t get any closer though. Anadolu Efes reacted with a 16-2 run (96-77) between the 33rd and the 38th minute which started with a three by Bryce and ended with Heurtel finishing the job.
