Spanish star Marc Gasol scored a season-high 28 points, Mike Conley had 11 of his 21 in the final 3:06 and the Grizzlies beat the Heat 110-107 on Saturday night.
It was the return of Memphis’ coach David Fizdale at Miami, where he spend his previous seasons as an assistant, and Gasol secured that he would get the win. Slovenian Goran Dragic was absent for the Heat, due to a left elbow injury.
In Charlotte, the Hornets took revenge and beat the Knicks 107-102 even without injured French star Nicolas Batum. Italian Marco Belinelli had 5 points for the winning side, while Latvian Kristaps Porzingis had one more big night with 25 points and 6 rebounds. French center Joakim Noah had 3 rebounds, Lithuanian Mindaugas Kuzminskas had 1 assist and 1 steal and Willy Hernangomez had 8 points and 8 rebounds, while Slovenian Sasha Vujacic added 1 rebound.
