Nebojsa Covic, President of Crvena Zvezda, answered to many fan questions concerning the team, transfers, Milos Teodosic and Nikola Milutinov.
As mentioned on Sportska Centrala, Covic addressed the rumors about a possible reinforcement in the center position after Mitrovic’s injury: “Coach Radonjic has already stressed the fact that he does not want to bring an overpriced player to the team. When you create an ideal situation, the value of players like Williams and Miller can grow, as we’ve seen in previous seasons.”
The team’s President was also called to answer questions about Milos Teodosic. “We have not offered any contract to Milos Teodosic, though he is great player. He expressed the desire to wear the Crvena Zvezda jersey when the time comes, he supports the team. After all, the way he plays, he will end up in the NBA”.
As to why Nikola Milutinov and Rade Zagorac didn’t make it to Zvezda, he explains: “Milutinov was extremely interested in coming to the team, but he had an active contract with Olympiacos and the coach decided to keep him, no wonder why. He is young and very talented. Rade Zagorac has chosen a different path, but I will for the first time say openly that we have never entered into deeper talks about him coming to Red Star.”
Belgrade is set to host the 2018 Euroleague Final Four, yet Covic insists this won’t change much, financially wise. “Money has long been spent. The fact that the Final Four will be played in our city, does not change our goals. Though after Mr. Bertomeu visited Belgrade twice, he made it clear that we are one of the clubs with the fastest progress in Euroleague.”
