With a powerful performance on both ends, Zalgiris Kaunas made short work of Dzukija 94 – 61 away from home, improving its winning record in Lithuanian league to 13 – 1 and preserving its distance from second Lietkabelis (11-3).
The duo of Paulius Jankunas (17 points) and Kevin Pangos (15 points, 7 assists) led their team’s offense exceptionally well, while Brock Motum and Robertas Javtokas added 14 points each. The latter also sank… two three-pointers near the end, scoring from downtown for the first time in the season.
From the side of the hosts, Gediminas Navickas scored 14 points and Alejandro Hernandez dropped 11, plus 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Zalgiris‘ players made their intentions clear right from the start leading 31 – 12 after the first quarter and then ruling over their opponents in every single way for a halftime lead of 34, 54 – 20. Dzukija outscored the defending champs 26 – 19 in the next ten minutes, but this didn’t affect anything in the match, save perhaps for making Sarunas Jasikevicius a bit mad ahead of a fourth period where his players dominated once more (15 – 21).
