Panathinaikos had it tough against AEK for three quarters though eventually prevailed with 77-68 and better its record to 9-1. AEK now stands at the third position behind the former and Olympiacos with a 8-2 record.

James Feldeine’s 20 points and 6 assists led the (typically) hosts to this important win, while Demetris Nichols also added 16. Ioannis Bourousis, the key player in the final period, contributed 11 points.

For AEK, Roko Ukic had 19 points, Dussan Sakota 14 and Giannoulis Larentzakis 13.

The Greens had an early 6-point advantage in the game, one which AEK eventually trimmed to 22-20 after the first 10 minutes. Both teams were head to head and the score was even at halftime, 39-39.

Xavi Pascual’s team was more improved in the second half, yet the Yellow and Blacks wouldn’t let the game slip easily. In the final period, Bourousis was crucial for his team, giving much needed scoring, while at the same time creating. Panathinaikos even extended the deficit to 10 points with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game.

Earlier, Olympiacos beat Rethymno in Pireaus to remain perfect in the league.
