With a return from a 14-point deficit and a 7-0 run in the last seconds, Gilboa Galil managed to achieve a major comeback against powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv and prevail 92 – 91 at the home of the “Yellows”.
This was the second defeat of Maccabi in the Israeli League and the first in “Menora Mivtachim”. This triumph marked victory no. 5 for Gilboa Galil.
Jason Siggers was the one to sink the winning basket for the visiting squad, putting the cherry on the pie of a 19-point performance. Before his dagger, Gal Mekel went 0/2 from the free throw line for Maccabi, missing an opportunity that could have changed the fate of his team completely.
Even though Maccabi was leading with an advantage that looked safe (but obviously wasn’t), coach Hadar’s players completely crumbled down in the last period. Their opponents smelled blood and began chewing more and more pieces of their deficit, making it a thriller in the last minute and ultimately take a grand victory.
Before Siggers’ game winner, Murphy Holloway paced the winners with 26 points. Andrew Goudelock dropped 21 points for Maccabi and Guy Pnini added 16.
