Khimki Moscow might have already secured 1st place in Group B but that didn’t stop them from dominating Bilbao 99 – 78 to finish the Eurocup regular season in style.
The Spanish team is now waiting for the match between Fuenlabrada and Lietuvos Rytas to find out if this was its last game of the season in the competition. Only if the Lithuanians win on the road, does Bilbao get a ticket for the Top 16.
Alexey Shved dropped 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for Khimki, while Nobel Boungou-Colo scored 11. Earl Rowland added 10 plus 5 assists and Vyacheslav Zaytsev 10 points along with 4 assists.
Ivan Buva (18 points) and Micheal Eric (15 points) stood out from the losing side.
Even though Bilbao was the team craving victory against Khimki, coach Ivanovic’s players were too much too hot to handle right from the start, storming with a 27 – 10 score at the end of the first quarter and never looking back.
The difference expanded to 23 points, 55 – 32, at halftime and the hosts kept increasing it. Bilbao only managed to reduce it to 16, 88 – 62 near the mid of the fourth quarter, but it was too late to change the final outcome.
