After the game against Yesilgiresun, coach Ergin Ataman confirmed that after Justin Dentmon and Russ Smith, Deon Thompson is also leaving the team. The next stop of the American big man is expected to be Crvena Zvezda.
“Thompson is leaving and we are having financial issues. I will decide to make transfers according to the club’s situation”, said Ataman who also explained: “We made a mistake on the point guard position in the beginning of the season and we parted ways with Russ and Justin”. The Serbs were in the lock out for a boost in their front line for quite some time and Thompson can be a great fit for them.
There are ongoing talks between the player and the Belgrade club, the deal is almost finalized and Thompson will be eligible to play in the Euroleague with Zvezda after the start of January for the second half of the regular season.
